RIVER DRAGONS UNVEIL ANNIVERSARY LOGO, ANNOUNCE LEASE EXTENSION WITH CITY

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus River Dragons and City of Columbus today announced an agreement for a five-year extension at the Columbus Civic Center.  The River Dragons also unveiled the team’s official Fifth Anniversary logo and uniform for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Deputy City Manager Lisa Goodwin, who is also the Interim Director of the Columbus Civic Center, has indicated that she will recommend to the Columbus City Council the approval of an additional five-year contract extension for the River Dragons.  The current contract does not expire until April 2024.

“We’re excited and hopeful that we’re able to continue the momentum built by our partnership with the River Dragons,” Goodwin said. “The excitement is in the air of what’s to come.”

Ignite Sports and Entertainment COO Jeff Croop also lauded the agreement.

“The support of our fans, city leaders, and our Civic Center family has helped us navigate through a very challenging era,” said Croop. “I cannot imagine a better group to succeed alongside, this is HOME.”

In conjunction with Saturday’s announcement, the team unveiled its fifth anniversary logo and prototype limited edition teal jerseys. The logo features a stylized “V”, representing the roman numeral for five, with the River Dragons primary logo extended to include two claws and a banner across the front reading “2019-2023”. There are also other “V” designs in the jersey details, the most evident being the sleeve and body striping. The jerseys will be worn for select dates during the 2023-24 FPHL season.
