River Dragons Sign Goaltender Jared Rutledge

Columbus, GA - The Columbus River Dragons of the FPHL are pleased to announce the signing of Jared Rutledge. Rutledge is a 5’11 170-pound goaltender from Chicago, IL that will be entering his third season as a professional. Jared began his pro-career with the Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League before coming to the FPHL with the Watertown Wolves last season.

Jared  has excellent lateral movement, tracks pucks well, and has a lightning quick glove. Before turning professional, Jared had an impressive amateur career. He played two seasons with the United States National Development team and three seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Green Bay Gamblers and Tri-City Storm. Rutledge also has three seasons of NCAA college hockey under his belt that includes a season with theUniversity of Michigan and two seasons with Aurora University.

Jared is ready to get to work and he had this to say about signing with the River Dragons, “I feel very fortunate to sign in such a great hockey town and look forward to being a part of bringing hockey back to Columbus. I'm excited to get to work and build towards a championship.”

Scott Brand (the River Dragons’ President and General Manager) explained what this signing means for the organization by adding, “This is a very important signing for our organization as Jared is a tremendous competitor and an outstanding goaltender. With his size and skill we expect our organization to have an excellent opportunity to do very well this season. I was impressed last year with his ability to stop pucks with his aggressive style in net and we are very fortunate to have his talents in Columbus. Knowing you have a solid net minder allows our defensive to rush the puck more and forwards to be more aggressive in our attacking zone, which leads to higher scoring opportunities. Jared will allow us to build the type of high energy offense we are expecting for our team.”

HOCKEY RETURNS to the Columbus Civic Center on Friday, November 1st at 7:35 PM when your River Dragons take on the Elmira Enforcers to open the home portion of their inaugural FPHL schedule.
