River Dragons Ink Forward Jay Peeaychew

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus River Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of forward Jay Peeaychew for the 2026-27 season.

Peeaychew, 23, will make his professional debut with Columbus after spending last season with the Glaslyn North Stars of the SaskPHL. The North Battleford, Saskatchewan native recorded 13 goals and 11 assists in 16 games, establishing himself as a productive offensive threat while bringing a physical edge to his game.

That physicality has been a defining part of Peeaychew’s career. During the 2024-25 season with the Battleford Beaver Blues, he posted six goals and 16 assists in 15 games while leading the league with 70 penalty minutes.

Peeaychew spent the 2022-24 seasons with the Onion Lake Border Chiefs and Wainwright Bisons of the NEAJBHL. In 32 games, he recorded 15 goals and 12 assists while accumulating 288 penalty minutes. He led the league with 217 penalty minutes during the 2022-23 season with Onion Lake before helping Wainwright capture an NEAJBHL championship in 2024.

His junior career also included stops with the Norway House North Stars of the KJHL and the Maidstone Jets of the SaskPHL. With Norway House in 2022-23, Peeaychew produced seven goals and four assists in seven games while adding 54 penalty minutes. Earlier that year with Maidstone, he registered six goals and eight assists in 16 games.

Peeaychew also spent time with the Edmonton Eagles of the CAJHL and Fox Creek Ice Kings of the GMHL during the 2021-22 season, combining for seven goals and 18 assists across 16 games.

A veteran of several Saskatchewan-based programs throughout his youth career, Peeaychew made a name for himself with the Saskatoon Riverkings U18 AA team in 2018-19, leading the league with 135 penalty minutes while contributing six goals and 11 assists.

At 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds, Peeaychew brings a tenacious, hard-nosed style to the River Dragons lineup and will look to establish himself as a physical presence as he begins his professional career in Columbus.
