River Dragons Hire DeBeaussaert For Play-By-Play Job

Columbus, GA - The Columbus River Dragons are proud to announce the hiring of Zak DeBeaussaert to be the team's first-ever VP of communications and play-by-play broadcast voice of the team.

DeBeaussaert, 26, comes to Columbus with lots of hockey experience including last season being with the Carolina Thunderbirds of the FPHL. Not only was DeBeaussaert on the call during the Thunderbirds Commissioner's Cup clinching win but he was also named Broadcaster of the Year for the 2018-19 season.

"We welcome Zak to Georgia with open arms" River Dragons President/GM Scott Brand said. "Having the opportunity to watch Zak grow last season in his 1st year in pro hockey, we knew that his time at the single-A level would be a short stay. It was important that we added someone of his caliber and when we found out he was available we jumped on the opportunity."

DeBeaussaert's voice will be heard on PMB Broadcasting stations calling all 58 games home and away for the River Dragons in 2019-20. He can currently be heard voicing radio commericals on PMB stations promoting the team's upcoming inaugural season.

"He understands the importance of broadcast communications and his winning the League's Broadcaster of the Year, proves his value" Brand continued. "He paints a tremendous picture over the airways and we know our listeners on our PMB stations will really enjoy his call."

DeBeaussaert is a Michigan native who graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2015. He will be responsible for the play-by-play of all River Dragons games, hosting the weekly recap/coaches show, sponsorship sales, media relations, team social media, and other administrative tasks.

"I'm very excited to be continuing my hockey career here in Columbus" DeBeaussaert said. "The challenges presented with starting a brand new team are enticing and I look forward to being part of something really big in this community."

The Columbus River Dragons kick off their inaugural season on the road taking on fellow expansion team the Delaware Thunder on October 25.
