River Dragons Acquire Goaltender Nolan Egbert from Watertown

COLUMBUS, GA – The Columbus River Dragons have acquired goaltender Nolan Egbert from the Watertown Wolves in exchange for financial considerations.

Egbert, 29, joins Columbus as he prepares to suit up for his fourth FPHL franchise since turning professional in 2023. He spent the first two seasons of his professional career with the Binghamton Black Bears, helping the club capture back-to-back Commissioner’s Cups from 2023–25. During his time in Binghamton, the North Massapequa, New York native compiled a 27-8-0 record with a 3.22 goals-against average, an .891 save percentage and two shutouts.

Following a trade to the Monroe Moccasins in 2025, Egbert continued his strong play, posting a perfect 4-0 record with a 3.57 goals-against average and an .876 save percentage. He signed with Watertown during the offseason and appeared in two games before being dealt to Columbus, stopping 37 of the 43 shots he faced.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound netminder brings a wealth of experience from his collegiate career, spending two seasons at UMass Boston before transferring to SUNY Brockport, with both programs competing at the NCAA Division III level. Across four collegiate seasons, Egbert recorded a 21-18-2 record, a 3.23 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

Egbert also established himself as a standout at the junior level with the Boston Jr. Rangers of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), where he played from 2016–18. In 59 appearances, he posted a 2.50 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. His performance earned him EHL Goaltender of the Year honors in 2018, along with a selection to the EHL North First All-Star Team.

Before joining the Jr. Rangers, Egbert played for the P.A.L. Junior Islanders of the USPHL Elite during the 2015–16 season, recording a 3.22 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

The acquisition comes just ahead of a weekend matchup at the Columbus Civic Center against Egbert’s former team and head coach. With a familiar opponent waiting on the other side of the ice, Egbert will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact with his new club and help the River Dragons defend home ice.
