FORMER NIAGARA CAPTAIN CONNOR LOFT SIGNS WITH RIVER DRAGONS
COLUMBUS, GA – The Columbus River Dragons are proud to announce the signing of rookie defenseman Connor Loft for the 2026 season.
Loft arrives in Columbus following an accomplished five-year career at Niagara University (ACHA), where he appeared in 141 games from 2020-26. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound blueliner totaled 17 goals and 71 assists while establishing himself as a key leader both on and off the ice.
A respected presence in the locker room, Loft was named an assistant captain in 2022 before earning the captaincy ahead of the 2023 season. His leadership experience extends beyond the collegiate ranks, as he also served as captain of the French River Rapids of the NOJHL prior to attending Niagara. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Loft remained involved with the Rapids by serving as an assistant coach while Niagara's program was on hiatus.
Known for his steady defensive play, physical presence, and leadership qualities, the 27-year-old brings valuable experience and maturity to the River Dragons' defense core. His addition strengthens a developing back-end as Columbus continues to build depth and prepare for the 2026 campaign.
Welcome to Columbus, Connor!
