COLUMBUS COMPLETES WEEKEND SWEEP WITH OT THRILLER

BILOXI, MS - The Columbus River Dragons never led Saturday night against the Mississippi Sea Wolves until Austin Daae scored 41 seconds into overtime to cap a 5-4 victory on Saturday night at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Down 2-0 after the first period, Columbus was shorthanded midway through the second period when goaltender Brendan Colgan (18 saves) made a game-changing save on a cross-crease pass with his left pad. Shortly after killing off the penalty, Kirk Underwood got the River Dragons on the board at 10:13, followed by Cody Rodgers first of two goals on the night at 16:33 to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods of play.

In the third period, the momentum swung back-and-forth as the two teams traded goals twice more. Each time Mississippi scored to take the lead, Columbus issued a response. Lane King recorded his first goal of the season at 2:54 to make it 3-3, and Rodgers notched his second of the evening on the power play at 10:54 to tie the game at four.

Just after the conclusion of a River Dragons power play that carried over into the extra session, Daae scored on a goalmouth scramble, batting the puck in past sprawling Sea Wolves goaltender Greg Harney (23 saves) for the win.
